How to connect a LinkedIn account

Step-by-step instructions on how to download the LinkedIn Chrome extension, generate a session cookie, and connect your LinkedIn account to the PeopleLinx platform.

Steps to Download and Install the LinkedIn Chrome Extension:

  1. Download the Chrome Extension File

    • Open a Chrome browser window and download this extention file by clicking the “Download” button.

  2. Access Manage Extensions

    • In Chrome, go to the top-right corner of your browser and click the Extensions icon.

    • Select Manage Extensions.

  3. Enable Developer Mode

    • In the Manage Extensions page, toggle the Developer Mode option located at the top right.

  4. Upload the “dist” File

    • You have two options for uploading the file:

      • Drag only the “dist” folder directly into the extensions page (Note: This method will only work on a Mac).

      • Alternatively, click Load Unpacked and select only the “dist” folder to upload.

  5. Confirm Extension Installation

    • Once the extension is uploaded successfully, you should see the “Agency Extension” icon available in your browser.

Connecting Your LinkedIn Account Using the Extension:

  1. Launch the Extension

    • Click the Agency Extension icon in the top-right corner of your browser.

  2. Sign In to LinkedIn

    • You will be redirected to LinkedIn. If not already logged in, you will be prompted to sign in to your LinkedIn account.

  3. Generate the Session Cookie

    • Click the Agency Extension icon again and select Download session details to generate your session cookie.

  4. Copy the Session Cookie

    • Open the downloaded .txt file (This will be downloaded to your computer and named after your LinkedIn account) and copy the entire cookie code. This will be a long string of text.

Add Your Session Cookie to PeopleLinx:

  1. Navigate to LinkedIn Accounts in PeopleLinx

    • In the PeopleLinx platform, go to Settings > LinkedIn Accounts.

  2. Add a New Account

    • Click New Account, paste the copied session cookie into the provided field, and click Connect.

    Important Note: Be sure to remove the default brackets that are automatically included in the cookie field before pasting the code.
